Deck Beams

April 21, 2013

Worked on the attachments for the deck beam to post connections today. Everything was predrilled a few days ago and once the beams are placed on the posts (with the help of the excavator) they need to be fine tuned so the post and beam are flush with each other. As bulky as everything looks, it is still surprisingly finicky to get everything set up properly. The bulkiness just adds to the challenge. I have to remind myself that it is a cabin and, as alluring as perfection appears to be, it is not what’s important to me.

You’re doing a fantastic job!! What an evdeavour to undertake but you can do it!! Take it easy on your back and knees, you won’t know what has hit you ’til you reach age 70!! Speaking from experience of course. So nice of friends and neighbours to help you-great people! Be up as soon as my ligaments mend.Love, Mom
